Shri Mayureshwar Mandir, Morgaon
The first and most sacred stop. The swayambhu murti of Mayureshwar on his peacock mount is enshrined here; pilgrims touch this temple at the start and again at the close of the yatra.

The only Ashtavinayak murti with the trunk turned to the right — making the shrine siddhipeeth, seat of accomplishment. Vishnu is said to have meditated here before slaying Madhu-Kaitabha.

Named for the boy devotee Ballal whose unbroken prayer called Ganapati down into a stone. Only Ashtavinayak murti named after a bhakt.

Varadavinayak — the bestower of boons. A nandadeepa (ever-burning lamp) has been lit continuously since 1892.

Chintamani — the remover of worries. The wish-fulfilling gem that Guna returned to Ganapati is said to remain here. Madhavrao Peshwa rebuilt the shrine in the 18th century.

The only Ashtavinayak carved inside a cave — 307 steps up in the Lenyadri hills. Parvati (Girija) is said to have done penance here before Ganapati was born.

Vighnahar — the remover of obstacles. The shikhara is gold-plated, rising above the Kukadi river. Considered the most ornate of the eight shrines.

Mahaganapati — most powerful of the Ashtavinayak. Shiva is said to have worshipped Ganapati here before his battle with Tripurasura.

Ashtavinayak refers to eight self-manifested (svayambhu) Ganapati temples around Pune in Maharashtra. The traditional clockwise circuit visits Mayureshwar, Siddhivinayak Siddhatek, Ballaleshwar Pali, Varadavinayak Mahad, Chintamani Theur, Girijatmaj Lenyadri, Vighnahar Ozar, and Mahaganapati Ranjangaon, returning to Mayureshwar.
The full clockwise Ashtavinayak circuit can be completed in 2–3 days from Pune by car. Devotees who do the longer 1-day "express" itinerary cover the inner cluster but not all eight.
The traditional order starts and ends at Mayureshwar Morgaon: Morgaon → Siddhatek → Pali → Mahad → Theur → Lenyadri → Ozar → Ranjangaon → return to Morgaon.
October to March, when Maharashtra weather is cool and dry. Avoid mid-June to September monsoon; some routes flood. Ganesh Chaturthi (Aug–Sep) is the peak festival window — dramatic but very crowded.
